TraininG and Staff Development

Our experienced trainers can deliver to up to 10 people in each class session. A higher number may be possible so long as all trainees have a high level of computer competence.

All sessions (except the half-day session on Teaching and Learning with Moodle) include time for hands-on experience. In many cases we will customise courses to the needs of each institution - sessions can be expanded or amended to fit your administrative and pedagogic requirements based on the costings given below. Final costing may vary depending on size of groups, duration of sessions and other factors so please contact us for pricing.
All prices quoted are exclusive of any essential travel, expenses and VAT.

Please note that where distance from our base in the West Midlands requires travel on days outside the actual training days there may be an at-cost additional charge for that time.

Moodle Technical Administration – One day

Top
Includes installation of all support software and Moodle itself, plus all operations requiring full or partial access to the server, file structure and database tables.

Moodle Site Admin (non-technical) – One day

Top
This one day session is intended for Moodle Administrators who will deal with day to day maintenance of Moodle in consultation with Teachers. It does not cover technical areas which require direct access to the file server(s), file system or data tables. We recommend that Moodle Administrators follow up with the Course Administration and Teaching session. This session is also relevant to technicians who wish to gain an insight into the administration of Moodle. We recommend that technicians should have undertaken the Moodle Technical Administration session first.

Moodle Course Admin for Coordinators – One day

Top
This session introduces and explains the management of courses on Moodle. It is intended for Moodle Administrators who will have responsibility for passing on the training within their institutions. In addition to a slightly shortened version of the Teaching and Learning with Moodle session (see below) there is a one hour introduction on the subject of enthusing Teachers and encouraging the use of online support for learning. Active, individualised learning is particularly emphasised. Trainees are given full access to our online support courses which can be installed within their own institutional Moodle. The Teaching and Learning with Moodle Session Plan (see below) is also available to be amended and reused as required.

Teaching and Learning with Moodle - One day

Top
This session is for Teachers and other staff who will use Moodle to support teaching and learning. There is a particular emphasis on using the interactive features of Moodle (discussions, wikis, blogs and so on) but most facets of course administration are included. We consider it vital to show exciting and innovative uses of elearning and to leave Teachers enthused about the benefits to their learners; this session has this belief at its heart.

Teaching and Learning with Moodle - Half day

Top
Note: This session is normally delivered twice within one day – any single half day session will incur an extra charge.

This session is a cut down version of the one day session with limited hands on practice. There is a reference to using the interactive features of Moodle but due to the time limitation much of the session is didactic and demonstrative rather than active. Nevertheless, we again try to enthuse Teachers about the benefits to their learners and the main objective is to leave them familiar enough with Moodle to move forward with their own use of online support with their learners.
