Students - HOW CAN VLE MIDDLEWARE HELP WITH LEARNING?

Teachers use lots of different ways to help you learn - lectures, group work, seminars, homework, assignments, visits, the internet, video and much more.

Fairly recently a number of new online facilities have become available which provide the learner with new and different ways to enjoy, and to a lesser or greater extent to direct the learning process.

How frustrating is this...
You've logged on to your own computer at school, college or uni. Now you need to access the Virtual Learning Environment (or whatever you call it where you are). So you have to log on again. Some of the material you need is on the exam board website. So you have to log on yet again. And so on every time you need a new resource. A Single Sign On facility could get rid of all that - sign on once - from where you study or from home - and that's it. the whole session.

How can a Virtual Learning Environment support and enhance learning?
Have a look on the "Teachers" page for the details, but think too about all the ways in which you may already use the internet. Do you have a "MySpace" page? Do you use (or even contribute to) a wiki? Do you run a blog? Could an instant messgaing system (like MSN or Skype, for example) help you when you need to chat something over? Would you like time to think before contributing to a discussion? Do you forget to take handouts or assignments home with you?

All these facilities - and many more - are available in Moodle, which we've been using for several years now. We'll help your institution - especially the Teachers and Students - get the best from online learning.
